Foxpelt walks along the border, doing his absolute best to pay careful attention to his surroundings. For once he's doing reasonably well at this.

Foxpelt is rewarded for his efforts by... nothing much. The border seems pretty calm.
After several minutes of monotony, however, a mildly annoyed voice, familiar to Foxpelt, sounds from a nearby tree.
"... Oh. It's you."

Foxpelt whips his head around, instinctively looking up this time.
"Oh, not again..."

The silver she-cat is lounging on the branch, looking rather put out.
"Why are you here?" she complains. "Where's that brown kitty? Or your other warrior pals?"

"I belong here. You on the other paw do not, so why are you here, hmm?"
Foxpelt bristles and glares up at the other cat.

The she-cat pouts down at him.
"You're such a meanie, Foxpelt," she says, ignoring his question. "Don't you have any nicer friends I could talk to?"

Foxpelt thinks about the other cats in FernClan.
"...."
"No, I do not. You're stuck with me, I'm afraid."

The silver she-cat looks a little disappointed about something, then appears to mentally shrug and leans down a bit, though staying firmly on the tree branch.
"Liar, liar! You had that brown cat with you when I saw you last time! What was her name?"

"You asked if I had nicer friends. And what makes you think I'll give you her name?"

The she-cat giggles.
"Silly Foxpelt! What if she heard you?" she purrs, settling back.
"So you're the nicest kitty in all of FernClan? There must be someone else."

Foxpelt finally realizes the direction the conversation is taking. Not liking it much, he does his best to change the course.
"As it happens, I am the nicest cat. We are by no means a friendly clan."

She giggles again. "Is that why you're all alone on a border patrol? So you don't scare off the other Clans?"

"Precisely. So glad you're understanding."

The she-cat pouts again. "So what happens when the warriors over there decide little Foxpelt is easy prey? Is your brown friend gonna come save you?"

"First of all, I'm much bigger than you. Second of all, I'm on my border. You are a rogue trespassing on Clan territory. Who do you think they'll be more inclined to attack?"

She giggles again, purring. "But I have friends to come rescue me, Foxpelt. How many cats can you fight until you need help from your friends?"

"I think I could take on a fair few."

"All on your own?" the she-cat asks, a teasing note in her voice. One ear pricks up. "I know at least three cats that are bigger than you, and all I have to do is yell once. and then they'll come and rip you to pieces," she says, purring pleasantly.
Then she settles down. "But all I want to do is listen to stories about FernClan! I don't have a Clan of my own."

"That's a pity. Clan life is quite good. But why do you think I'll tell you about it?"

The she-cat pouts. "Why not? I'm not going anywhere, and you haven't called for any reinforcements to make me..."
She kneads the branch with her front paws, sinking her claws into the wood.
